Ok, so today has been pretty unproductive. I applicated myself to two jobs (part-time ESL instructor and assistant production coordinator for a small film company). I called a language school, NOVA type, about part time employment there. I have been hassling for the past two weeks and today the guy finally returned my many messages. He won't know anything until the end of the month.

I will now apply for two jobs at a large university working in the library. I am overqualified for both positions, but I have been applying for these types of jobs before. I usually get a standard response from an automated HR system.

Besides that, I have cleaned up dishes, laundry etc, talked on the phone, and spent too long on the internet.

Job hunting is a whole new ballgame these days. I'm sick and tired of filling out endless internet forms for jobs and then hearing nothing. I hate the whole "if you don't hear from us, assume we found someone better for the position." You mean, you can't send, at the very least, an automated message rejecting me? It's fucked up.

By the way, I applied at a library too. Have an interview on Friday. As an assistant. Duties = shelving and checking people out. Great.

I think internet applications are bullshit, just like those `email us your resume!` jobs.
I sound like my mother, but the best way to get a job is to apply in person, ask for the manager, shake their hand and place your resume directly in their palms.

I think everything else is a waste of time.

Then after one week, you should either call back or make a visit to let them know you are still interested and are serious about the application.

Man, I sound like my mother.
So old-fashioned....
